Happy New Year!!
Matt and I are so ... exhausted (ha!) .... But we had an amazing December celebrating the holidays with wonderful friends and family. Since I work at the local high school, I am fortunate enough to have a significant amount of time off during the holidays. This allowed me to travel back to Massachusetts and spend much needed time with everyone.
Now that we are back in Kansas the celebrations are over (and we have our enlarged waist lines to show for it). We are eager to get back into the swing of our regular lives - which includes more work with our barn wood :)

We are so proud to share that we have already started selling a few of our pieces! Above is one example of the beautiful frames Matt built. This one measures 20x24 and was a collaboration with our good friends at theRYEstudio.
Working with genuinely aged barn wood has its own challenges in that each piece of wood is unique in it's texture, size, and weathering. Matt needs to measure, cut, and sand each piece individually for the overall project. It's quite inspiring to watch as he almost becomes one with the wood as he studies and learns each plank's unique features.
These are our more recent projects, three 8x10 frames that will receive their foam board backing and hardware next weekend. We found a fantastic supplier in Texas who provides us with the highest quality black acid free foam board that is used for archiving pieces of art. Both the frame and the pictures our customers place inside will stand the test of time.
We are finalizing our pricing brochure while we continue to expand our projects. We will be sure to share here if any of our friends or family are interested in purchasing a frame. One new project I am really excited about includes the antique glass panes (visible in the picture above) that we salvaged from vintage windows on our property. The green tint is so beautiful and perfectly compliments the wood. Below are a few pictures of the next pieces of wood that we will re-purpose! We were both instantly drawn to the hinges on door and inspired to incorporate the rusted iron into some of the frames.
Cheers to 2016!
