Matt and I were talking last night about our different passions throughout our lives. When Matt was younger he was consumed by sports and fully immersed in the fitness lifestyle. For a majority of his life, food intake was strictly regulated by nutritionists as eating was based on science and "fuel" for the game. Around the time that I met Matt, everything changed for him.
No longer living an athlete lifestyle - all that passion shifted to flavors, tastes, and food that was once off-limits. Today, he's channeled that passion into our family meals and has become my favorite chef. Every meal is an opportunity for him to hone his skills, perfect a technique, and try new flavor combinations. I am proud to be his sous chef and guinea pig for all creations - new or tried and true family recipes.

Now that Matt is home {and not rotting to death on hotel food and takeout} his craving for home-cooked food has amplified! {and so has my waistline}. Here is a sampling of our decadent meals:
Slow-Smoked Beef Ribs
Caprese Salad
Creamy Tomato Ravioli
To top it all off, we watched a thrilling lightening show during a thunderstorm that ended with the most awe-inspiring rainbow we have ever seen.
I can't help but sing "somewhere over the rainbow ..." and smile knowing I don't have to click my heels to be back in Kansas :)
To Matt's dismay I also managed to find my way on the roof of our shed ...
In my defense ... there was no better view.
Until next time - CHEERS!
